Penryn solicitor displays charity paintings

A partially sighted artist is selling his paintings in Penryn during the run up to Christmas to raise money for charity.

Penn Morcom-Webb from Mylor is exhibiting paintings in the window of Christopher Rose solicitors in Lower Market Street, as part of the firm’s entry “The Old Curiosity Shop” for Penryn Chamber of Commerce’s Christmas window display competition.

More paintings are inside and all the money raised through the sale of the work will be given to Kidney Research UK, a charity chosen by firm principal Christopher Rose.

Mr Rose said: “Mr Morcom-Webb is a friend of mine and I’ve encouraged his art as much as I can. My wife’s father died of kidney trouble, so we want to support that charity and Mr Morcom-Webb is helping us to do so.”

Mr Morcom-Webb took up painting as a hobby a few years ago, when he first started losing his sight through glaucoma.

He has already held a few exhibitions of work in the window of the solicitors’ office, all for different charities, including epilepsy research. Mr Morcom-Webb said: “Christopher saw this opportunity of me getting better and encouraged me further. I’m grateful to him and my wife for their support.”

The paintings will be on display until the middle of January.
