TEMPERATURES around Mylor dropped to minus eight on Tuesday night causing the sea to freeze for the first time in quarter of a century.
Local farmer Matt Dale took these stunning photographs of Mylor Creek early in the morning on Wednesday with moored boats surrounded by ice and a local fisherman cutting through the freezing water.
“I can last remember this happening about 25 years ago,” said Mr Dale. “It hardly ever gets down to these sort of temperatures in this mild part of the country.”
Elsewhere Swanpool Lake was frozen with ducks and seagulls trying to make landings on the ice as was the Helford Passage and around Perranarworthal and Stithians Lake.
The cold weather caused a number of accidents around county with vehicles coming a cropper on the icy roads.
Temperatures are set to rise over the next few days with the forecast for the weekend set to be wet and windy with gusts up to 53mph on Sunday.
