PENRYN Athletic’s joint player-manager Dale Band has said the upcoming Cornwall Senior Cup Quarter-Final tie is a massive game for the club and one he hopes his side can win to progress through to the semi-finals.
His Penryn side have already seen off higher league opponents in this competition so far having beaten rivals Falmouth Town in the third round last month, so a game at home to Truro Reserves, a team from their division, is one they should expect to win.
This is reinforced by the fact that they have already beaten City 4-1 at home already this season but Band admits they can’t go into the game with a complacent attitude.
“We can’t take too much from that result because it will be a totally different game and I don’t know how much their side has changed from then. I think both teams will fancy their chances but hopefully we can play to the best of our ability on the day and come away with a good result. Truro will be a typical young side and will be full of energy so it will be a tough game.”
The other games in the Senior Cup quarter finals this weekend see favourites Saltash play Perranwell, Callington Town face Perranporth and Porthleven host St Austell.
