An innovative young brand from Falmouth is defying the credit crunch with an innovative approach to distribution for hard up retailers.
Rapanui has developed distribution system that allows online retailers to sell their clothing by proxy with no need for expensive stock and no need to deal with returns or packaging.
The company says that the scheme, which helps reduce the risk for retailers, is attracting a lot of attention.
Rob Drake-Knight co-founder of Rapanui said: "It's pretty simple really; we provide all the resources needed; images, text and logos, ready to copy and paste into a website in 20 minutes. The store takes a commission on sales and all dispatch and returns and stock are handled by Rapanui."
The lean manufacturing processes pioneered by Rapanui along with a flexible stock control system make this a pioneering move in the industry.
Rapanui Clothing is manufactured using organic fabrics, ethical trade and renewable energy powered factories.
It was recently awarded a finals place at the 2008 Sustainable Business Awards in Southampton, is listed as one of the Top 100 startups of 2008, and has provided bespoke versions of its eco-friendly clothing to Ben and Jerry's and the Marine Conservation Society.
