Flower power is being used for fundraising as Falmouth’s St Mary’s Catholic Church host a flower festival.
Organised by congregation member Mary May and her sister Pat Miller, the festival started today and runs until Monday, with a concert featuring Treverva Male Voice Choir and St Mary’s School Choir on Sunday at 7.30pm.
The theme of the flower arrangements is Songs of Praise and many of the towns churches, including King Charles the Martyr, Emanuel Baptist, All Saint’s, United Reform and the Methodist Church, have created arrangements, as well as Penryn’s Methodist and St Gluvias churches, Mawnan Smith Catholic Church and Budock Church.
Community groups such as St Mary’s Brownies and individuals are also taking part.
The festival is raising money for church repair funds and Cornwall Hospice Care, who have contributed an arrangement.
In the church hall there are refreshments and an arts and crafts exhibition.
Mary May said at the opening: “With the flowers and all the churches working together there’s a great atmosphere. It’s lovely to see the church so beautiful.”
