Falmouth woman walks Hadrian's Wall for charity

A Falmouth midwife has walked 26 miles across the historic Hadrian’s Wall to help support midwives in Africa.

Pauline Pascoe, of Budock Water, raised £500 for Christian Aid when she walked across the wall with her friend, a former Falmouth midwife Anne Greenwood.

The pair walked across the wall over two days, 15 miles on the first day before a night in a tent and the final 11 miles on the second day.

Forty people from across the country took part in the walk and in total raised £35,000, which will go towards a project fighting poverty in Angola.

Pauline said: “Our motto was we can’t stand still whilst people go hungry, it was quite a challenge and took some training but was good fun.

“Christian Aid were interested in midwifery and how being a community midwife could help people in Africa. I would be quite interested in maybe going out there one day but I’m glad to have done something to help.”
