Musical legend Rick Wakeman is to be guest speaker at a charity art auction raising money for Penryn-based autism and Asperger's charity Spectrum.

Artworks by top local, national and international names including Rankin, Damien Hirst and the late John Miller have been donated to SpectrumArt 2009, with the works being auctioned off on Saturday, October 31 at the Headland Hotel in Newquay.

Selected highlights are on show a preview exhibition that begins at Truro's Driftwood Gallery on Monday and runs until Friday.

People can also view the work over wine and canapes next Wednesday from 5pm until 7pm and meet some of the artists and the Spectrum team.

All artworks can be viewed online at www.spectrumart.co.uk and tickets to the auction evening, including a three-course dinner, are £50 each available through Spectrum on 371000. Telephone and online bids can also be arranged.
