The colour red dominated at parish communion on Remembrance Sunday, with red vestments and beautiful arrangements of red carnations and poppies.
The Rector, Canon David Miller, introduced the service, with the Rev Dorothy Noakes presiding at communion. Betty Booker, lay reader, preached, showing how this season of remembrance, with the focus on the cost of human conflict, is tied in with the idea of Christian discipleship, which also requires total commitment and, sometimes, great sacrifice. Bethany Kingston read the lesson and Andrew “Jake” Holyer led the prayers.
The Service of Remembrance took place in the afternoon and, in the evening, the Nankersey Male Voice Choir gave a “Poppy Concert”.
