The November meeting was held in the recently refurbished Mawgan recreational hall. The hall committee is to be congratulated on the excellent design and finish of the work.

President, Dot Rogers, welcomed members and a guest to the meeting. There were several apologies from members due to illness and holidays.

The speaker for the evening was unable to attend, which meant that members were able to discuss in more detail the business of their WI.

Dot thanked all members who helped to make last month’s group meeting such a success and to those who entered the competitions, which enabled members to win the Rose Bowl for most points won. It was suggested at the group meeting that as members only meet once a year, that they meet in the spring to celebrate the Federations 90th anniversary.

Various suggestions were discussed as to what form the celebrations should take. Arrangements were made for the county lunch at Budock Vean Hotel later this month and the entry in the Helston Fatstock Show was discussed. Suggestion for the New Year dinner venue was also discussed.

The 2010 diary is already starting to fill with county and Chy Noweth an Conteth lunches to look forward to and the many other activities available for members to take advantage of.

Flower of the month: 1, Sheila Hocking; 2, Jayne Hocking. Competition: 1, Jayne Hocking; 2, Sheila Hocking; 3, Dot Spragg.

Hostesses for the evening were Brenda Tripp and Margery Head.

The next meeting on Wednesday, December 2 will be an early Christmas celebration when members receive a surprise gift from the bran tub and enjoy a supper provided by the committee.

We would like to wish “Bon Voyage” to two members travelling to Australia and New Zealand in the near future and look forward to their return in the New Year.
