ASHTON CHURCH: The celebrant at the service of holy communion on All Souls Day was the parish priest the Rev Penny Prince. The epistle was read by the Rev Sharon Chalcraft and Canon Michael Porteous read the gospel.

The monthly Tuesday, Book of Common Prayer service of holy communion was presided over by Vicar Penny. Bevan Osborne read the epistle and Vicar Penny read the gospel. Sideman was Malcolm Hersee.

Sunday evensong was led by the parish curate, the Rev Sharon Chalcraft and lessons were read by Malcolm Hersee and Bevan Osborne. Margaret Goldsworthy was the organist and sidesman was Malcolm Hersee.

BALWEST METHODIST CHURCH: Being Remembrance Sunday, morning worship started in the customary manner with congregation assembling at the Germoe Parish War Memorial on Tregonning Hill at 11am for a short service. Seven individual crosses (one for each of those lost in conflict) were placed on the memorial. The Last Post and Reveille were played by Gillian Allen. Her husband Steven (a serving member of the forces) read the names of the fallen.

The service, led by Andrew Besley, concluded in the chapel. Accompanist was Jill Warden. Mrs Allen, deputising for her hospitalised father, Sam Nicholls, did a very beautiful and appropriate red, white and blue floral arrangement in the chapel.
