A large number attended the Remembrance Day service on Sunday morning, which commenced in the church and was led by the rector, Canon David Miller.

Lessons were read by Ray Spencer and Councillor Mike Clayton. Preacher was Canon Miller, Mary Cowley and Vee Green were sidespeople. Hymn singing was accompanied jointly by Wendron Silver Band and church organist, Anne Veneear.

The service concluded outside at the War Memorial when the names of the fallen were read and silence observed.

The Last Post and Reveille were played by two members of the band who also accompanied the singing of the National Anthem and the hymn outside.

Special thanks to the members of the Devon and Cornwall Police from Helston, who halted the traffic for the reading of the name and the two minute’s silence.

On Saturday a musical evening is being held at Wendron School at 7.30pm.

On Sunday there will be a service of holy communion at 10.30am. Celebrant and preacher will be the Rev John Dibb-Smith.
