A 97-year-old war veteran was given the honour of re-opening Truro’s extended Sainsbury’s store today, Armistice Day.
Jack Garratt, a veteran of the Normandy Landings and the oldest member of the Cornwall branch of the Royal British Legion, cut the ribbon to open the store at 9am.
At 11am a two-minute silence was held at the store in remembrance of those fallen in war.
