Large crowds gathered in Truro this morning to honour the city and country’s war dead.
An open-air service was held at the war memorial in Boscawen Street, as at 11am the city fell silent as a mark of respect to remember those lost in war.
This year’s service held particularly poignancy, as Truro remembered city-born soldier Olaf Schmid, the explosives expert killed on his last day of duty in Afghanistan.
