An auction in aid of Beating Bowel Cancer and Canine Crusaders has raised £1,780 in Redruth.

Sue Smith from Canine Crusaders, which organised the auction, has now handed over a cheque for £890 – half the money – to Dr Richard Ellis and colorectal nurse specialists Candy Coombe and Clare Ferris.

The auction, which was held in Redruth Community Centre in October, had 185 lots including artwork worth over £500 from Imagination Gallery in St Ives.

Sue said: “We had businesses and trades people from all over the county including Penzance, St Ives, Falmouth, Truro and Redruth donating goods. There was something for every taste and pocket.”

Acting as auctioneer was radio presenter James Dundon, who Sue said did “an excellent job.”

“We were overwhelmed with how generous people were and with how much support people were willing to give. On the night there was excellent attendance,” she added.

Both Canine Crusaders and Beating Bowel Cancer have given their thanks to all the businesses and trades people who donated and also all those who came along on the night and so generously supported the event.
