National cancer specialists have recommended that a second centre for gynaecological cancer surgery in the Southwest should be in Cornwall and have pinpointed Truro as a potential base.
The specialist centre at the Royal Cornwall Hospital, Treliske would work alongside the one already in Devon.
Tito Lopes, consultant gynaecological cancer specialist for Royal Cornwall Hospitals Trust, said: “I and my team here are delighted that our service has been recommended.”
