Carn Brae leisure centre in Pool will have a unisex changing area fitted as part of a £480,000 refurbishment.
The new facilities will have a communal open area with private changing cubicles as part of a bid to make the centre more family friendly.
The changes will see family sized cubicles installed at the centre, which will retain separate showers and toilet rooms.
New boilers have already been installed at the centre and the next project will be to install an ultraviolet water treatment system to help cut the chlorine levels needed to keep the water clean.
Work on the new facilities at the charitable trust run leisure centre means that the pool will be closed over Christmas The refurbishments are due to be completed by February 2010.
