Holy Communion for Advent service was celebrated on Sunday with the Rev Sylvia Burgoyne, who also explained the meaning of Advent and the forthcoming birth of our Lord.

The first candle on the Advent wreath was lit by Brenda who together with Pene read the first reading from Isaiah in the Dramatised Bible, the second reading was by Marian.

The Offering was taken up by Brenda and accompanist was Sybil. Flowers were provided by Margaret.

Sunday, the second in Advent, is also Family Service led by Sarah Campbell. We look forward to welcoming you at 11am.

The Christmas Tree Festival at the chapel will be opened on Friday, December 11 at 6pm by the Rev Sylvia Burgoyne followed by carol singing with the St Mellanus Singers. Chairman is the Rev Shane Griffiths. The festival will continue throughout the weekend on Saturday, December 12 from 10am to 4pm and Sunday from 12 noon to 4pm. Refreshments will be available. The Proceeds will be divided between the Chapel and the Church Bells Restoration Fund.

The Annual Carol Service and Community Lunch is on Sunday, December 20 at 11am followed by the Community Lunch in the village hall. If you would like to book a lunch please ring either Brenda on 01326 240889 or Fran on 01326 241035.

The village hall Christmas Whist Drive will be held on Thursday, December 17 at 7.30pm with MC Ian James.

The Annual Christmas Draw will take place on Thursday, December 17 at 10am during the Friends of Cury School Coffee Morning.
