Violence erupted in Helston when a man was hospitalised during a vicious assault and a house was burgled by a group brandishing knives.
A man in his 20s suffered a broken nose and had to have stitches following what police called a “motiveless and cowardly attack” in Helston on Friday evening.
In the early hours of the following morning, a house in the town centre was burgled by two men carrying knives and hiding their faces. The seven people inside were uninjured but left shaken as the burglars stole property from the house.
Police said they were not treating the two offences as linked and stressed that these types of crime were very unusual in the town.
