Outpatient clinic views sought from Cornish residents

People living in Cornwall are being invited to share their experiences of attending minor procedures and outpatients clinics.

The new Single Issue Panel that has been set up by Cornwall Council’s health and adults overview and scrutiny committee, will be looking at a number of key areas over the next five months.

These include examining access to outpatients and minor procedures clinics (minor procedure clinics are when people go into hospital for diagnostic tests or for day case surgery) to see if they can be improved, reviewing minor procedures and outpatients clinics across the county, reviewing the clinics offered outside Truro to see if they can be improved, examining how well the facilities are being used, particularly those in outlying areas, comparing the location of patient appointments with a patient’s postcode to see if more appointments can be offered closer to where people live and reviewing the current choose and book system to see if it can be improved to increase patient choice.

Anyone who has experience of attending a clinic, whether as a patient or as a friend or relative, is asked to give comments about issues such as location, signage, hours of opening and how waiting time. “We would also be interested in hearing how their second appointment was made and if this was at their local clinic, or they had to travel further away,” said a spokesperson.

Anyone who would like to give their views should contact Laura Orton, on 01872 322131 or e mail Lorton@cornwall.gov.uk or Mr Goninan on 01736 788722 or e mail cgoninan@cornwall.gov.uk.
