Falmouth police hunt hooded robbers

Police are on the hunt for two young men in hoodies involved in three incidents in Falmouth last night including threatening a taxi driver with a hammer.

The pair initially attempted to break into a coin operated parking machine in the Well Lane car park at around 8.20pm. They then made there way along Gyllyng Street where they approached a man, and took money from him.

They got into a silver coloured taxi, outside Iceland telling the driver to take them to Old Hill. During the journey they threatened the taxi driver with the hammer, demanding his money. They took a moneybag and his wallet and got out of the car at Tresawle Road.

DS Helen Shears from Falmouth CID said: "This was an extremely brazen series of crimes that took place yesterday evening and I must stress that incidents like this are extremely rare in Cornwall, but they are of real concern to us.

"We are making a number of enquiries and analysing CCTV footage to try to identify the two suspects. I would urge anyone who has any information to contact us as soon as possible either by telephone or speaking to officers or PCSOs out and about in the Falmouth area."

Police are particularly interested in hearing from a man and a woman who are believed to have been in the car park at the time the two suspects were attempting to break into the coin operated machine. Police are also keen to locate a green Roxy wallet and a red and black money bag.

If anyone has any information please call police on 08452 777444 quoting GP/10/499.
