Carn Brea car boot starts charging shoppers for entry

A popular car boot sale in Pool has drafted in some experts to help it get even bigger and better, but customers will now have to pay to visit.

The sale at Carn Brea Leisure Centre has been running on Sunday mornings for more than a decade, and along the way has raised cash to support the leisure centre’s charitable objectives.

Now the team behind the sale have asked Car Boots Cornwall to lend a hand and prepare it for the next 10 successful years.

The centre’s events manager, Toby Stacey, said: “Our car boot has been getting bigger and better every year, and we decided we needed some professional support to take the event to the next level.

“Working with the experienced car boot operator, Car Boots Cornwall, will enable us to provide a much better experience for our customers, as in addition to the car boot stalls there will also be a variety of traders, catering and toilets provided on the site.”

The new style car boot will be running as of August 1, with a 30p admission charge introduced from September 5.

Toby said that any money would be ploughed straight back into the leisure centre.

From August 1, sellers can set up from 7.30am with the car boot opening for buyers from 8am.

Well having been to many car boots organised by Car Boots Cornwall both as a seller and buyer I can say that I think this can only be for the good. When you go to one of their car boots you know that the cars will be lined up properly and any unsavoury items etc will be sorted by the team. They have a great team of people working for them and are great people especially as was shown at Falmouth where there was an accident which was dealt with professionally and quickly by them. So for me this can only be for the better.
