Possible cutbacks in the county’s leisure centres are to be discussed at a meeting today at Cornwall Council.
The council’s overview and scrutiny committee has been meeting all week to discuss all the services Cornwall Council is responsible for.
Today’s meeting will focus on ‘communities,’ which includes the running of sports facilities and leisure centres.
Meetings already taken place this week have focussed on education, health and the environment.
Each one has looked at how Cornwall Council can save £110 million from its budget over the next four years, by making potentially making cutbacks across all the services.
It is due to a 30 per cent reduction in government funding.
The scrutiny committee’s findings from this week will then be discussed by cabinet members on November 17 and the full council at the end of this month. Both these meetings will be shown live on the council’s website cornwall.gov.uk, so that people can follow the debate.
