British reared turkeys and seasonal produce are sure to be some of the highlights at the hugely popular BBC Good Food Show when it launches its first ever Christmas Tasting Theatre this year.

Visitors to the show can snap up tickets to join What to Cook and How to Cook It author Jane Hornby as she serves up some festive ideas using some of the best British produce.

The NFU, which will take over the theatre each day from 12.30-1.30pm, will be joined by members showcasing locally-sourced produce, from horticulture board chairman Sarah Pettitt’s Brussels sprouts, poultry board member Paul Kelly’s award-winning KellyBronze turkeys and horticulture board member Stephen Watkins providing a variety of vegetables.

Some of the highlights will be tips on getting the best out of your locally-reared and sourced turkey, from the main meal on the day to making the most out of the leftovers, to advice on cooking seasonal produce available right here in the UK.

NFU senior campaigns officer Gemma Fitzpatrick said: “This is a wonderful opportunity for seasonal, British produce to take centre stage at the biggest food show in the UK. Hopefully, visitors will take some ideas home with them and will be tucking into a locally-sourced Christmas dinner this year as a result.”

Tasting session tickets for the theatre have already sold out due to popular demand however visitors won’t be left disappointed because they can still watch the show.

Anyone who wants to snap up a locally-reared turkey this Christmas can find their nearest supplier by using just their postcode on www.ukturkeys.co.uk. More than 300 suppliers are already registered.

Other features on the newly-designed website include recipes, cooking tips, farmer case studies as well as an interactive children’s section.
