The Hall for Cornwall’s director, Tim Brinkman I off to Australila. He has been headhunted by a major Australian arts venue in Melblourne where he will be the executive, performing arts. He will be leaving the Hall early in March next year.

Trustees have already started the process of appointing a successor and are wasting no time in finding the right person to fill the gap. In his time at the Hall, Tim has managed to attract an increasing number of top national and international acts to the region. As well as some of the biggest producers of West End Theatre, this has included the highly acclaimed Donmar Warehouse which has chosen HfC as one of only three venues to which it regularly tours in England. English Touring Opera now also now includes the Hall on it touring circuit and has worked closely with the Hall on a number of community projects including the highly successful One Day, Two Dawns. These are just a few of the many top touring companies that now tour to Hall for Cornwall. In addition, the Hall has become a member of the Dance Touring Partnership and Dance Consortium which bring the very best in new national and international dance to the country and to Cornwall. The people of Cornwall are now often one of the first groups of people to see outstanding new work from dance companies such as Alvin Ailey and Hofesh Schechter.

“It’s a tremendous accolade for HfC to be well respected in the theatre world and that our Director is head hunted from the other side of the world,” says Peter Davies, chairman of the HfC Trustees.

Tim says: “I will greatly miss Cornwall, its people and Hall for Cornwall in particular. I’m proud at how successful it has become and grateful to its marvellous staff who work so hard to give Cornwall a theatre it can be proud of. The venue is very well supported by local audiences, even during these challenging times. Whoever is appointed will find it a great place to work.”
