A former Truro College pupil is flying high after passing his initial officer training at Britannia Royal Naval College in Dartmouth.
Jovin Harper, 24, aims to become a pilot in the Fleet Air Arm of the Royal Navy after graduating from Loughborough University with a degree in civil engineering.
The training included ten weeks at sea in the Helicopter Assault Ship, HMS Ocean which was on an operational deployment.
Joining in Rio de Janeiro the time onboard gave the opportunity for Jovin and his colleagues to gain experience across all specialisations and departments in a warship.
The ship sailed across the Atlantic calling into Lagos Nigeria, Freetown Sierra Leone and Lisbon Portugal, before returning to the UK.
Jovin's parents, Dr Simon and Mrs Sharon Harper travelled to Dartmouth, Devon on a bitterly cold day in late December to witness his passing out parade.
