Members of a Truro support group will be among those celebrating the fifth anniversary of Connect in Cornwall, a charity that helps people suffering from aphasia.
This is a condition that makes it difficult for people to communicate after having a stroke or head injury.
The charity holds conversation groups in Truro, Penzance, Camborne/Redruth, St Austell, Liskeard, Launceston and Wadebridge.
There are also home and hospital befriending groups in Truro’s Royal Cornwall Hospital and Barncoose Hospital at Redruth.
To celebrate the fifth anniversary of the charity an event is taking place in the Hydroc Suite of the Lanhydrock Hotel, Bodmin between 11am and 3pm on Friday, April 15.
Up to 100 people with aphasia and their carers will join with representatives from Cornwall Council Adult Social Care, the Cornwall & Isles of Scilly Primary Care Trust, Truro and Falmouth MP Sarah Newton and Connect trustee Professor Roger Boyle, who is the national director of Heart Disease & Stroke.
