If this was indeed inside the car park, it proves my gripe that they should be marshalling the car parks on exit as well as entry!
I came out of one of the car parks this week, and a 4x4 driver pulled out in front of me as I was driving down the car park, and had to hit the brakes fast as I was a matter of feet away, and luckily I stopped in good time, otherwise if the ground was any wetter then I'd have slammed into the side of it, thanks to their inconsiderate driving of pulling out as I approached.

the incident did indeed happen in the car park. i totally agree with road_hoggs comments. we were in our car 'stationary' waiting to leave the car park for 30 mins before the incident which occured 2 cars ahead of us. we were sat watching the car park opposite empty at a quick pace. there was 1 guy marshalling the exit road and he was not letting anyone out of our car park exit. this led to obvious frustration which led to a car trying to exit our line at a dramatic rate and hitting other stationary and parked cars in the process. amazingly a steward apopeared 10mins later and as we are now the led car he told us we had to squeeze through a gap to join the next line up. this of course led to more chaos as they line didnt want to let us join it. the steward of course had disappeared by now . having just witnessed a nasty incident i could see it happening all other again. i went to find the steward and explained to him that no drivers were letting us exit the crash area and i was worried that there was going to be another accident because everyone was decending from all directions. his exact words were 'its not my fault'. i explained that it was his job to organise the traffic and he just shrugged his shoulders and remained where he was
the organisers need to take a serious look at their marshalling before next years event.

I was in the crash at the show ground. I was a passenger in the first car hit. we had been waiting for over half an hour stationary. "boom". a silver car plastered in air ambulance stickers smacked us to the rear corner of us and continued to hit cars along the row. also hitting a man into a black jeep smashing the window with his head after a long trail of car hitting the car was stopped by a parked car at the end of the row. (7 CARS INVOLVED) we all got out. very quickly came the emergency services from the show ground with St.Johns ambulance they went and seen to the guy driving the air ambulance car first not noticing the man on the floor in between 2 cars having been hit by the car. my auntie had to shout the paramedics over. they cleared up the area very quickly. then had the man between the cars airlifted out and took my family to the on site injury unit to be checked the driver of the silver car was wondering around while the police worked out what happened. Thank you to the st.johns ambulance people who were very kind and looked after all the affected people very well. while waiting in the unit we over heard people telling the wrong story which was very irritating. The police never asked us what happened. 2 hours later we were told we can go back to our car where the police still had the area taped off. They then checked our car and allowed us to leave. all that time and they still didn't want to know our story as we did have the best view. Just after the accident we moved our car to the side and the police believed the car was already there.

while in the unit we listened to the doctor say the man driving the car had sky high blood pressure and that he was reading as a man who just had or was about to have a heart attack. (NO FRUSTRATION INVOLVED) he was unwell and it appears driving an automatic his foot pushed full on the throttle instead of the break.

We were told before leaving the man who was airlifted did not suffer major injuries and is on the way to recovery.

The field we were in was not moving at all but the opposite field was flowing three car lanes at a time and we hadn't moved in over 30 mins.

Its all very well directing us in, but really they should do it on the way out too.

I was also at the show at the time of the accident.

Having been sat in my car waiting for over an hour to exit the field, with cars driving down and trying to squeeze closer and closer into the long queues.

The stewards just looked but decided to do nothing. Thet had communication, but failed to use even common sense!

As people got to their cars they tried to drive through parking spaces just to get closer to the exit. This then infuriated other drivers that were waiting patiently.

The narrow gate had 6-7 cars trying to squeeze into one exit from all angles!

After the accident I shouted at the attendant, that traffic needed to be moved and an entrance/exit for the ambulance required, he just stood there without a clue.
To the lady that came up and shouted at me in my car, I was more than aware of the accident, I also realised that opening the second gate onto the already conjested traffic would not work without the traffic from field two being stopped. This was NOT done.

That being said I hope all the people in the accident make a speedy recovery. Cars can be replaced people can not.

To the organisers of the show, better & more stewarding required in the car parks and fairer access to both fields, more signage for pedestrians as they were also walking between moving cars.

A roped off walkway from the crossing would of made a big difference to pedestrains going to car park 2.

Also a roped of area for the cars to follow in a single line to the exit would be fairer.

What a damperner to the end of a great day at the Royal Cornwall Show.

I also hope the people involved make a speedy recovery.we spent three days at the show and the same happened the first two evenings a free for all no traffic management at all .Most people waiting in line but some very pushy drivers forcing their way in.People walking through the chaos a real danger. The stewards were creating more problems in ignoring this. The last day we had to break down our stand and the police closed the whole site because of the crash again the stewards were clueless when the gates reopened the whole site was a dangerous free for all .I attend many shows around the country and found the whole traffic management at this show a total disgrace .I will never attend this show again due to the serious traffic management problems and the clueless staff at this event

Sounds a bit like the driving standards in marks and spencers car park at Hayle.

I'm surprised that the Police are appealing for witnesses on this incident. I was the driver of the first car hit at speed by the driver of the silver mondeo - and as yet the police have only asked for my name and contact details and my car is a write off.

The car behind me suddenly sped up crashed into me shunting me into the car in front whist I was sat stationary in the car park he then hit a pedestrian who was standing by his colleagues vehicle knocking him into the side window of a landrover , the car then continued careering into a blue fiesta and luckily came to a halt as a result of hitting a red for transit van and a blue peugot. The driver of the car is thought to have had a heart attack or possibly nearing one. The air ambulance airlifted the pedestrian to hospital and the driver went by ambulance for heart checks.

I also wish all those injured a speedy recovery. I was also in the car park at the time. We had been waiting an hr. and 35 minutes before the accident happened. I am surprised there were not more incidents. My blood pressure was raising. We were directed by a steward to join a queue, the some of the people got impatient and started queue jumping and going down different paths. Cars from the car park across the road from us seemed to be going at a faster rate, while we at the back of the queue had not moved for over an hour. Then more people started forming more queues while we were jammed in and some even pushed into the front of the queue and the steward let them out 1st. It was completely unorganised, it was a car park for disabled people we should have been let out in equal amounts as the other car park. It took us a total of 2 hours and 25 minutes to get out of the car park. I saw a group of 4 stewards stood around talking, why can't they stand near the toilets, then the disabled doesn't have to go hunting for someone to come and unlock the toilet. I think the organisers should talk to the organisers of the Devon show, we have never taken that long to get out of a car park. I may be Cornish but this is 1 place I will not be going again.

police no longer conrol traffic at these events and private companies now seem to be employed to cover this sort of event
The withdrawal of operational traffic duty is due to changes in a Road Traffic Act which state that officers are only allowed to control traffic in a emergency situation. Although the regulation has been in place for a number of years, Devon and Cornwall police have continued to oversee traffic control at major events, but they have now been directed to end the service
"But the police say they have done a lot of research and seem to think it will be okay, but we'll just have to see what happens."

I was present at the accident
The emergency services were there so fast.
Police, fire, ambulance and St Johns and one doctor
What an amazing response
It makes you proud that these people work for our county
We all hope the injured get well soon and that the driver of the car in question is also ok
To speculate why or how is for the police and not us, as we can not know the facts we should not assume them.
The car parking is always bad, but it's a massive event and we all expect delays, we don't like them but who does
The official services present were amazing, hopefully next year the parking is better and the organisation looks into roa management in a more constructive way

I was the chap air lifted to hospital.
My colleague & I had been working the Eco/Microgeneration tent for the day & up until this point had had a wonderful day, 1st time I had been to the RCS so took some time off the stall to have a good look around what a smashing event credit to the organisers & participants alike.
I would like to take this opportunity to say a massive thank you to all who attended to me, the paramedics who arrived in what seemed like seconds a doctor who I think was attending the show as he appeared to be dressed in ‘civvies’ a dab hand with a rather large needle! The helicopter crew cool, calm & informative all helping to keep a rather worried chaps fears a bay & the hospital staff who were brilliant with some good old British humour thrown in, just the job when your ribs are mashed & last but not least my friend & colleague who did a stirling job of holding my head & not moving, as instructed by the Paramedic’s until they got the neck brace on (he has bad knees). I do hope that everyone else involved is on the way to recovery, personally - somewhat beaten up but will live to fight another day.
