A song written by a former Falmouth schoolboy about his love for Cornwall has found national fame after it was played on Radio 1.

Colin Leggo, who grew up in Budock and went to Falmouth School, effectively wrote a love song about his county of birth, called Cornish Is.

It was in response to Radio 1's song Scottish Is, to advertise their coverage of a music festival.

Colin's version was played by DJ Scott Mills on his afternoon show and has since attracted almost 41,000 views on You Tube, with fans creating a fan page for Colin on Facebook, also called Cornish Is.

His song includes lines such as “Cornish is indigestion after a massive pasty” and “Cornish is massive blokes with pasties in their veins, with hands like massive shovels.”

It also mentions towns such as Helston,Falmouth, Budock and Camborne, as well as the Baracuda Bar in Newquay and companies such as Skinners, Doom Bar and Trago Mills.
