Filming on the new Brad Pitt zombie film World War Z is taking a different form in Falmouth today.

After two days of shooting onboard the SD Salmoor, an admiralty salvage vessel, it is understood that today’s schedule is concentrating on the process of ‘cyber-scanning.’ This is effectively where photos are taken from lots of different angles, so that the subject can then be turned into a computer generated image.

This often happens in action moves to create large crowds of people out of a smaller number of real-life actors.

The 500 or so extras, the majority of which are local to Cornwall, are believed to have been called back for an extra day to allow this to take place, having previously been told they would only be needed on Wednesday and Thursday.

It was an earlier finish for many of them yesterday, with coaches starting to arrive back in Falmouth just before 6pm.

Today’s schedule means it is likely to be a day off for Hollywood heart-throb Brad, who is still the subject of intense speculation over where he is staying during the filming.

The latest theory is that he is staying in Devon and being flown to the town by helicopter each day.

However, a black helicopter with darkened windows, which was spotted flying overhead in Falmouth yesterday before appearing to land somewhere in Budock, did not contain Brad, as many people believed.

The Packet can reveal that in fact the helicopter was being used to film overhead shots of the action onboard the SD Salmoor, which has been covered with wax to make it appear like it is covered in ice.

The RFA Argus has also arrived in Falmouth and it is understood will be involved in the filming as well, appearing as an aircraft carrier.

Filming is due to continue in Falmouth next week, with shooting expected to end next Friday.
