An application for four new homes on the West End Industrial Estate in Penryn has been rejected by Cornwall Council.

The application, which was first submitted by Milron & Co in August 2010, met with much opposition from both the town council and local residents.

In their objection to the application, Jane and Darrel Morgan who live close by said: “This is industrial land on an industrial estate.

“Four small industrial units would be far more acceptable and useful than four three storey houses crammed into the corner of an industrial estate.”

Penryn Town Council have consistently opposed the residential development of the site and in a statement submitted to county planners said: “The location is within an established small industrial site and should be retained for industrial or commercial uses.”

An appeal against the refusal has been lodged, but no date has yet been set for a final decision.
