Oil that spilled out into the River Fal was quickly contained and cleared up thanks to the prompt action of the Truro Harbour Authority.

Up to 90 gallons of oil leaked into the water when two drums became dislodged from a boat moored in the estuary yesterday.

Truro harbourmaster Mark Killingback immediately began a cleanup operation, taking guidance from the Environment Agency.

Floating barriers were used to stop the oil from spreading, while the water was cleaned.

The issue was resolved by yesterday evening.
