A young tank driver in the Army would have to be given another job in the service now that he had a conviction for drink driving his solicitor Robin Smith told Truro magistrates.
Kynan Green, 20, of Greenwood Crescent, Penryn, who pleaded guilty to drink driving on January 1, would be punished for this offence by the Army as well as any penalty the court would impose, he said.
Green, said Alison May, prosecuting, had been seen driving across the central white line in the road at North Cliffs, Camborne, at 1.45 am on New Year’s Day.
He later tested at 55 mcg, 20 points over the limit.
Mr Smith said Green had been expecting to stay at a party in a pub until 5.30 am and had planned his drinking accordingly. He had been very restrained and had one pint and two shots at New Year.
Then unexpectedly he had to leave earlier than thought in order to help out a friend who had started walking home.
Green was fined £225 and £100 costs and surcharge and banned from driving for a year.
