Helston’s new town centre manager began in post on Monday.
Jonathan Birkett, who is the town’s second town centre manager in as many years, takes the place of Richard Dennery, who resigned last autumn.
He is due to attend his first meeting of Helston Town Council tomorrow, Thursday.
Since the post was first created public opinion over the need for a Helston town centre manager has been divided.
It is being funded by supermarkets Sainsbury’s and Tesco, as a planning condition of their getting permission to build new stores in Helston.

The scenario can be likened to Manchester United and Chelsea giving Helston Athletic a hand-out to spend on a new playing surface, this improves the teams performance so much that the local side will be in the Premier League overnight.
In politics and business, the £800,000 could only be seen as a corrupt way of operating.(The big boys get what they want in return for their benevolence)
I think there should be a public enquiry into this murky affair of 'money for favourable planning decisions'
