Thieving vandals have ruined a brand new fence, which forms part of a walkway linking Penryn College and Tremough university campus.

The inconsiderate criminals made off with 150 metres of 3x2 treated timber fencing sometime between 5.30pm on Friday, April 20 and the early hours of Saturday morning, April 21.

PCSO Lewis Vague, who is handling the case, said: “The timber has only recently been put in place and it forms part of a link path for all the community to use.

“Someone has come up here and prised it off – I’m guessing it’s opportunistic but they must have known about it to go there.

“They would have needed a crowbar to jemmy it off as well – it’s unbelievable really.”

The area affected is close to a popular footpath used by university students and college pupils, and sits between the Kernick Industrial Estate on one side and Trevance Road on the other.

PCSO Vague said: “Unfortunately there’s no CCTV that covers the area because it is tucked away, but if anyone has seen anything please contact Falmouth police station on 101.”
