Porthleven Masked Ball hands out charity grants

Grants worth a total of £600 have been donated to two charities by the team behind Porthleven's Masked Ball.
The music event is held every year on the cliff tops of Porthleven and is always a sell-out success.
Organiser Kelvin Batt has this year donated £250 from the proceeds of the event to the Porthleven Christmas Lights Fund, which helps decorate the port with lights during the festive period.
A total of £350 was also given to the charity Pants, which raises awareness of gynae and testicular cancer.
This money was raised through collection buckets placed around the event, which took place earlier this month.
A mass pillow fight, a 'rocket to Russia' and a snow dome were just a few of the added attractions at this year's ball, which is now in its fifth year.
One area was a marquee called Bedlam, in which entering through a wardrobe door partygoers were handed pyjamas to wear as they ventured into a giant bedroom with beds, pillows, cuddy toys and tea trolleys.
Another area called the Snowdome, saw real snow falling from inside the marquee.
Early bird tickets priced £20 are now on sale for the Halloween edition of the event planned for October 27, from the event website maskedball.net
