Charity golf day in Mullion

A charity golf day in Mullion proved to be a big hit despite the weather.

A total of £1,146.90 was raised at the Dave Gardner Golf Day held at Mullion Golf Club.

This saw a large number of teams, made up of four players, braving the rain to pit their skills against each other and raise money in memory of Mr Gardner, who lost a battle with cancer.

His wife Sharon Gardner and her sister Selina Tresidder were behind the day, with the golf club doing most of the organising.

A raffle helped boost the total money raised, which has now been split and presented to Cornwall Hospice Care and Helston-based Cancer Funding for Cornwall.

Selina said: “We would like to thank Mullion Golf Club for organising the day, the teams of four that took part and anyone that donated prizes for the raffle. Everybody is always very generous.”

Coming first on the day were the team made up of Chris Ramsden, Daniel Reid, Simon Lester and Rupert Spence with a score of 58.6.

Runners up were Tim Pearson, Richard Pearson, Gordon Tamblyn and A James with 60.6.

Kyle Fraser, Jamie Greet, Nathan Roberts and Tony Roberts came a close third with 60.8, while Kevin Roberts, Ben Easterling, Edwin Enderson and Kelvin Fulcher took fourth with a score of 61.3.

It is an annual event that always takes place the day after Flora Day.
