Three little words to describe Helston: The public responses
7:20am Thursday 5th July 2012 in News
AFTER a request from the new town manager for three words to describe Heston, the public have been having their say on the Packet website, with suggestions ranging from the ridiculous to the sublime.
Jonathan Birkett has asked Helston residents to tell him what three words best describe the town in the hope of creating a town ‘brand’.
The Packet website has been inundated with suggestions, not all of them helpful. Among the most positive were: ‘Proud .Vibrant. Friendly’, ‘aesthetically pleasing architecture’, and “worth a visit’, while some were hopeful for the future, including, “onward and upward”.
Others were not so glowing, with “A tired dump” and “tired, awaiting improvements”, “Not much there”, “drive through fast”, and “Tesco's, Sainsbury's, Toilets”, among the suggestions.
The next stage is to get focus groups together in July with residents, pupils from the college, businesses and services in the town forming separate groups to answer the question ‘What does Helston need?’ If you would like to get involved by having your say on Helston’s new town branding, write to Mr J Birkett, Helston Business Improvement Partnership, Guildhall, Helston, TR13 8ST.
You can also email Mr Birkett at the council at tcm@helstontc.com.
