Awards ceremony celebrates Helston College students success Awards ceremony celebrates Helston College students success

The successes of top performing students at Helston Community College were celebrated last week at two celebration evenings.

First to be honoured were retiring Year 11 students, who are finishing their secondary education this summer ahead of starting sixth form.

Prizes and certificates earned during the past academic year were presented in front of an audience of parents, governors and staff.

Subject awards were presented to the top students on each course, as well as more general awards for attendance and progress.

Helston School Junior Jazz Band performed at the evening, including a rendition of Hit The Road Jack – perhaps a nod to the fact that the students were now dispersing to further education at colleges around the county.

The following night was the Post 16 Celebration Evening, to mark the achievements of Year 13 students who have now finished their sixth form education and are about to embark on university courses across the country.

Once again, individual subject awards were made, as well as presentations to honour outstanding performances.
