The July meeting of Mullion Women’s Institute at the Waves Café, Coverack saw the ladies bid farewell to a longstanding member.

President, Val Stevens, paid tribute to Peggy Lewis, who will be leaving Mullion shortly to live near her family.

Val said that Peggy has served several terms as either secretary or president between the years 1992 to 2007 and has helped with, and joined in, every aspect of Mullion WI life.

She added: "She helps to deliver WI lunches every month to those unable to get to the hall, and readily offers to drive people to and from events when needed. Val presented Peggy with a gift token to be spent on a keepsake of her own choice, as a memento of her life in Mullion.

"Peggy is currently chairman of the Mullion branch of Arthritis Research Campaign. She will be greatly missed by her many friends."
