Divers have dragged up some strange items from the deep during an underwater rubbish clean-up at Swanpool.
A wellington boot, plastic bags, and even a t-shirt with the legend ‘Laura will you marry me?’ were among the items brought up to the surface.
The clean-up event was organised by Mark Milburn of Atlantic Scuba, with 13 divers donning tanks and flippers.
Mark said: “It just came to me, rather than just organise a dive, give the divers a purpose and pick up some rubbish. "We found a big sheet of aluminium, bent and misshapen. It may have been an old road sign, but it was covered in sharp edges, and would have caused accidents."
Mark said a second underwater beach clean dive was being planned for September.
