Falmouth School celebrates 100 per cent A-Level pass rate

There were nibbled fingernails and nervous faces this morning as Falmouth School A-level students arrived to discover whether they had made the grade.

After the long summer wait pupils at the school finally had a chance to rip open envelopes to and see the results of their hard work.

With Brett Miners, deputy head at the school, saying everyone was very proud of all the students, and the school had something extra to celebrate this year, a 100 per cent pass rate.

Mr Miners said: "This year every full A-level or equivalent exam taken by a student was passed, giving the sixth form college a headline pass rate of 100 per cent, the best it can be.

" This is an outstanding figure and one that reflects the considerable and sustained efforts of the students and staff in the sixth form at Falmouth School."

Mr Miners added: "We are very proud of our students and wish each of them every success in the future."

Over 70 per cent of the students achieved the highest A* to C grades, with 100 per cent achieving a C or better in art, media, music, performing arts, psychology and PE.

Outstanding individual performances included Rebecca Phillips, with two A* and three A grades, Anthea Bancroft, with one A* and two A grades, and Lydia Stott, with one A*, two A's and one B grade.

The students the school said made the most progress were Joel Brickell, Lois Wyatt and Tom Hicks.

Students, mainly from year 12, also collected their A/S grades, with these contributing to their final A Level results next year.
