Last Saturday saw fundraising in Helston in aid of the Falmouth/Helston Cats Protection League.

A summer fete was held at the Old Cattle Market and opened by mayor Jonathan Radford-Gaby and his wife Wendy.

The fun packed day provided entertainment for all ages, with a bouncy castle, books, face painting, a bucking bronco, raffles, refreshments and craft stalls. It was organised by Tracy Hladkij, who has been fundraising co-ordinator since March this year. She said: “This is the first big event we have had in quite a few years. I was very pleased.”

She thanked all the traders and volunteers who made the day happen, as well as Mr and Mrs Radford-Gaby for their involvement. Tracy estimated that £600 had been taken on the day.

Money raised goes towards sheltering, re homing and neutering cats around Cornwall. More events are due to take place in the Falmouth and Helston area and the charity is looking for volunteers to offer their support. Anyone interested can call 08453 712729.
