Falmouth based harmony group Eight in a Bar has raised vital funds for The Phoenix Stroke Appeal thanks to a concert at All Saints Church in Falmouth.

The group joined their voices in song at the event with a grand total of £1,300 raised for the charity.

The concert, to a capacity audience, also featured The Cornwall Junior Choir, with 12-year-old Angus Fraser on the organ, described as ‘the star of the evening’.

The group has sung in Southern Ireland, South Wales, taken part in the Morlaix Music Festival, as well as twice competing successfully in the Bournemouth Music festival, winning the Folk Song Class in 2006 and, in 2010, The Male Voice Choir Class.

It also won the under 40 voices class in the 2009 Cornish International Festival and in the same year received an award from The Cornish Gorsedd as ‘the best light music group’.

In November 2010 members were asked to provide some backing for a recording by Ralph McTell.
