Eden and charity join forces to highlight where food comes from

Oxfam has teamed up with the Eden Project to highlight the charity’s GROW campaign.
Oxfam South West has worked with Eden’s team to create Growing a Better Future, an installation that highlights the four pillars of the GROW campaign.
The project has begun with a summer of hands-on activities and experiences for the whole family at the Growing a Better Future exhibit. The exhibit shows people where food comes from and gives information about Oxfam’s GROW campaign and encourages them to grow their own food.
Growing a Better Future at Eden will run for three years and visitors can learn more about the global food system. The world currently produces enough food for everyone, yet nearly one billion people do not have enough to eat. It is not just droughts, famines or bad harvests that are responsible for the problem – a whole host of interlinked factors are involved from land grabs and climate change to rising food prices and lack of investment for small scale farmers.
Caitlin Shepherd, community and activism co-ordinator for Oxfam in the South West and a co-ordinator of Growing a Better Future at Eden, told the Packet: “We are very excited to be working alongside the Eden Project. The creative and interactive approach of the Eden Project compliments Oxfam's current GROW campaign.
“Working together on Growing a Better Future provides an opportunity for visitors to the popular attracton to get to know the campaign through conversations and practical, hands-on activities.”
Visitors to Growing a Better Future will be able to talk to Oxfam and Eden volunteers about the campaign, learn more about where food comes from and be given free seeds to encourage them to take a bit of Eden, and Oxfam, home with them.
