Mawnan Fun Run returns after two year break

After a two year break Mawnan fun run will return to the village’s roads at the end of next month.

The event, due to be held on Sunday, September 30, starts at 10am in Carwinion Playing Field. It is being organised by Falmouth Rotary Club, with money raised shared equally between rotary charities and the Mawnan Memorial Hall re-roofing appeal.

A spokesman for the event said: “In order to put on an event with something for everyone, there will be the same 5K race which previous fun runs have followed, through the village to Trebah and back, plus a 10K race of two laps for serious runners and a one-mile fun run course for children, with three age categories. “The one mile fun run will be suitable for pushchairs. “There will be prizes for all categories, including prizes for runners aged under-18 in the 5K and 10K races. “There will also be a children’s fancy dress competition to add to the fun.”

Entry fees are £10 for adults, £8 for juniors and £3 for the fun run and all runners completing the course will receive a medal and goodie bag. Entries can be made online at rotary-ribi.org The president of Falmouth Rotary Club, Peter Griffiths, said he was delighted Falmouth Rotary Club has been given the responsibility of organising the event.
