An 81-year-old has died and her husband is in a "serious" condition after a two-car smash on the A30 last week.
The woman, from Essex, had been the driver of a car involved in a collision near Hayle on Friday.
The Hayle Bypass, between Wheal Alfred Road and Strawberry Lane bridges, was closed for upwards of six hours following the collision between a Ford Mondeo and Vauxhall Astra just after 2pm.
Firefighters were forced to cut the casualties free of the wreckage and the air ambulance landed on the road, ready to airlift the husband to the Royal Cornwall Hospital at Treliske.
Occupants of the second vehicle were out of hospital by Saturday, having received treatment for their injuries.
