Take a break from Truro shopping and visit an 'island park'

Shoppers in Truro are encouraged to take time out from their busy day for a cup of tea and a slice of cake on an island this Saturday (September 15).
Furniss Island Park, named after the Cornish biscuit company that once ran its factory in Truro, is on the banks of the River Allen just before it meets the Kenwyn and is a short walk from New Bridge Street and Lemon Quay.
The Friends of Furniss Island are now inviting people to go there between 11am and 3pm to listen to music, dig in the Plant Your Park plot, get their face painted and learn about the plants in the park.
Visitors can also find out what the Friends group has been doing and share ideas on what they would like to see and do in the park.
