Anti privatisation petition is signed by hundreds

A petition launched yesterday to try and halt Cornwall Council plans to privatise many of its services has already been signed by more than 650 people.
The online petition was set up by councillor Andrew Wallis, whose motion against the sell-off was supported by a majority of councillors at a meeting of the authority last week.
However, despite that vote, the council’s ruling cabinet committee has vowed to press ahead with its plans, leading to an outcry from opposition councillors.
The petition, which can be found by clicking here , reads: “We, the undersigned, call on Cornwall Council to reverse its decision to proceed with a Strategic Partnership for Shared Services until such time the majority of the elected members of Cornwall Council have voted to support the proposals.”
