FOUR years of hard work were recognised at a special ceremony last week as Pendennis Shipyard’s apprentice intake of 2008 graduated.
The company’s award winning apprenticeship scheme is now in its fifteenth year, and is highly respected throughout the international shipbuilding industry.
The scheme also provides the company with an invaluable source of highly trained workers, with 14 workers the latest to complete the four years of training. The course not only provides official qualifications but the opportunity to train to an extremely high level in a chosen trade and then to progress through the company.
The 14 graduates were honoured last week at an awards ceremony held on Thursday evening at the Falmouth Hotel on Cliff Road. They started the scheme in 2008 and have worked hard to successfully complete the course and achieve the high standards associated with the scheme. Most of this year’s qualified apprentices will go on to full time employment at Pendennis, continuing the growth and expertise of the yard’s world-class workforce.
