Lift shaft fall at Royal Cornwall Hospital, Truro

A person has been injured after falling down a lift shaft at Truro’s Royal Cornwall Hospital this lunchtime.
The casualty had to be lifted to safety on a stretcher after suffering neck and back injuries.
They were treated by hospital staff at the scene, but it is not known if the person needs further treatment.
The rescue, which involved firefighters from Camborne, including a line rescue unit, took an hour and a quarter due to the nature of the person’s injuries.
After calling for support from the fire service at 1.30pm, the casualty was eventually brought to safety by 2.42pm.
